We had a truly great turn-out for our Howl-o-ween party this year! Thank you to everyone who came out with their pups, with or without costumes. We also want to give a big thank-you to our fabulous and skilled staff, who made sure that everyone had a fun and safe time. Our team here at Fetch Doggie Daycare recently got the chance to meet with the wonderful people of Yeller Cab, a pet taxi service for the Portland area. We wanted to see for ourselves what their pet taxi is like and learn a bit more about what they do. With their awesome 2009 Nissan Cube parked right in front of Fetch, we got to see inside the cab and meet some of their representatives.

They have turned this cab into the most efficient and comfortable pet transport system we've ever seen here in Portland - and their founder, Nancy, is still brimming with ideas to make it even more dogtastic! Talking with Nancy and her team, it was apparent that these people are more than just amazing entrepreneurs - they are devoted dog-lovers. We can confidently recommend their services to anyone who needs help getting their dog to vet, airport, groomer, or - ahem - doggie daycare.

Another month brings us another batch of super-cute Birthday pups! After all, every dog has its day :)

Nico is turning 2 years old! She's doing her best impression of a seal.

Rama the Border Terrier is also turning 2 years old! Here she is with her summer haircut.

Ranger the mixed-breed is very excited to be turning 3 years old!

Inara is turning 4 this month. She's ready for her treat!

Bela the Beagle is Inara's older sister - she's turning 5 this month!

Reilly the Airedale is turning 6 this month, and this is the first year we've gotten her to wear the Birthday hat! Good job, Reilly!

March flew by, and now it's time to announce our April Birthdays! We have a lot of April pups here at Fetch!

Atlas is turning 1 year old this month! He had a haircut after this pic was taken, and is looking spiffy ;)

Jadzia is turning 1 year old, and gave the camera her cutest smile!

Dexter is another 1 year old! We couldn't convince his ear to stay in the hat...

Don't let his serious and mature face fool you; Bentley is only 1 year old!

This cutie-pie is Zoe, and she is turning 1 year old this month also!

Axel is turning 2 years old this month. Such a goofy teenager!

Cairo is turning 3 years old. He posed so pretty for his picture!

Balu is turning 6 years old, but everyone knows Labs are puppies forever!

Charlie is doing great with his new dad in Vancouver, and we have already been called upon by the Dalmatian Rescue of Puget Sound to foster another awesome boy! Jackson is a happy-go-lucky pup; approximately 1 year old. He is very outgoing and playful, and would do great in an active family (he's willing to share the love, so other dogs in the home are okay!).

Jackson knows his basic obedience, but could use more training to harness his attention span and energy! He sees each day as a new adventure, and would love to be someone's hiking/running buddy. He practically glows with youth and good health, although he could stand to gain a few pounds.

After spending nearly a month in foster care up in Washington, Charlie was adopted after just 4 days here in Portland. Guess it was meant to be! His new dad is a Dalmatian savvy person with lovely extended family, and Charlie was already dishing out kisses to the great-grand-daughter! We wish him all the best :)

Our partnership with the Dalmatian Rescue of Puget Sound continues, and this time they've sent a real sweetheart to us. His name is Charlie, and he's a total lovebug. We're guessing his age in the 6-8 range.

Charlie was found as a stray, and it is suspected that he had been hit by a car, although he only had minor bumps and bruises. Lucky guy! This mellow boy really enjoys being with people, and he is an expert cuddler. He also enjoys other dogs, but we're recommending a cat-free home.

Charlie could use some training, as it seems that nobody ever taught him the basics! He has very good manners, but doesn't grasp sitting on command. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this sweetheart a forever home, don't hesistate to call, e-mail, or drop by!

March doesn't seem to be a big Birthday month for the pups, but we do have a handful of Birthdays to announce! If your dog was also born/adopted in March and their picture isn't up yet, please let us know!

Pepper is turning 2 years old this month, and this is the best picture he would give us. We even let him sit in the laundry basket (his favorite napping spot), but he wouldn't smile! Silly Pepper...

Koko is turning 5 this month, and she's looking very mischievious!

Fiona is turning 6 years old. She's such a supermodel!

We can't believe that Meiko is turning 7! Look at that handsome face!

Doggie Dash, Here We Come!!

The Oregon Humane Society's 24th annual Doggie Dash is happening May 14th, and "Team Fetch" is already in progress! We have set our fundraising goal at $3,000 - an all-time high for Team Fetch! We're going to need a lot of help to reach our goal this year, and we don't want to let the Oregon Humane Society down. Valentine's Day at Fetch

We wanted to do something special for Valentine's Day, because the love between human and dog is worth celebrating, too! So, all the dogs that came to daycare on Monday made Valentine's for their families (Britt helped).

Their Valentine's were magnets, so parents could stick them on the fridge to have all year round!

Here's a close-up of Daisy's magnet. They all posed for their pictures in the morning, and then we had arts-n-crafts time!

ADOPTED! - Little Man Goes North!

We're happy to announce that Little Man, our timid but lovable foster dog, has been adopted!! His new family, including his new sister (a Yellow Lab), came down from Olympia today. He's starting a whole new life in a whole new town, and we wish him all the best! We're sure he'll continue to come out of his shell and will certainly love running around on his new property. He's a very lucky boy!

Dog put on some Winter Weight?

A cute cartoon, but we do occasionally see some seriously chubby dogs at Fetch. If dogs could make New Year's resolutions, I doubt they would resolve to lost their extra weight as many of their human counterparts do - they would probably resolve to eat more! However difficult it is to say no to those big, pleading eyes at dinner time, the truth is that pet obesity can have lasting damaging effects. At Fetch, we've seen dogs with bowed legs, dogs who can't seem to catch their breath, and can't keep up with their peers - all because of their weight.

The good news is that diet and exercise can work miracles on your pup's weight! We love seeing visible improvement in the previously chubby dogs that attend daycare regularly. We've even nicknamed a dog Fetch's "Biggest Loser" when he lost a remarkable amount of weight over the course of a year! A balanced and well-portioned diet, coupled with regular exercise (like walks and daycare) is the key to slimming down your plump pup. Just make sure to ask your veterinarian for advice and make sure their isn't an underlying health problem causing your pet to pack on the pounds.

Our New Foster: Little Man

We've partnered up with the Dalmatian Rescue of Puget Sound once again! Our current foster is Little Man, a sweet, somewhat aloof 1-year-old Dalmatian.

Little Man was brought to us after being rescued from a very dysfunctional hoarder in Eastern Oregon. The poor little guy was so emaciated that he couldn't be neutered - he wasn't stable enough for the anesthesia. Well, he's doing much better now and is scheduled to be neutered Jan. 24th! He's gaining weight daily, and his personality is really starting to shine.

Little Man is cat-friendly and dog-friendly. Because of his personality, we would suggest a home with a friendly female dog or a very easy-going male. He is shy, though not fearful, around people at first. Show him a little kindness and you will win his trust, he will even reward you with little kisses! His tail is always wagging and he has a very active and well-behaved personality.
